Health Partners
Health Partners, Inc. was founded in 1992 by Sister Michaeleen and Sister Gladys Marie, Mary’s Song – sisters belonging to the Sister of the Holy Cross. Through their Mary’s Song ministry, the Sisters went from house to house interviewing and assessing the needs of more than 349 families who were living in the poverty pockets of Charles County.
As a result of their research, the Sisters founded Health Partners, a Charles County medical clinic staffed by volunteer doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and clerical help.
The clinic started slowly. In July 1992, the clinic began seeing patients, through the generous donation of a local surgeon Dr. N. Bhaduri who provided space for the clinic to operate. In March 1993, the clinic moved to a rented store front in a warehouse. And, in January 1996, the clinic found its permanent home at the Old Waldorf School, 3070 Crain Highway, Waldorf, Maryland.
